I like The Walking Dead. Its a good show with a good story and really effects. I just don't like a majority of the characters. Now I haven't gotten everyone's names down right yet so you'll have to bear with me. I like Rick Grimes and Glenn and T-Dog, Merle and Daryl and I hate veryone else. They're annoying, selfish and idiotic. Like how that lady wanted to kill Rick for coming into the store and leading the walkers to them. Then she goes on and acts like a real bitch. I'm sorry but lady... You and your friends are the one who really fucked up. Your the ones who went to a city, you never go to a city during the zombie apocalypse. Its like going to a mall or a graveyard you're only asking for trouble. Then when the walkers get in everyone runs away screaming leaving Merle to die on the roof. Assholes. So yeah a lot of the characters are incredbily unlikeable.

Also I don't support racism, sexism, white supremecy or the Neo Nazis. I only like Merle because he's played Michael Rooker. If he wasn't I'd hate him as well.

is this only about season 1? because if it is, i totally agree with you. (exept that i like Dale too)
because in season 2, i do like hershel, he isn't selfish or annoying. i do hate maggie though, she is a dumb bitch like all girls on the show. (exept for beth, she is pretty awesome, excluding the time she wanted to suicide.)

for the rest, i agree with you completely :)

I do agree with that, Andrea is a real bitch but then again so are all of the girls in the show at some point. Lori is always having a go at others for whatever reason, Carol complains that Rick lost Sophia and Maggie just has a go at everyone who talks weird to her. Daryl and Glenn have the best lines I think though :)

I LOVED to HATE Merle. That's that. But Daryl and Glenn (occasionally Rick) are my favorite characters. Also, that one snazzy zombie that kept appearing in season one. ;D

Glenn was a real character. It's why he got the gift of death so early

Sorry, but Merle desearved to die. I hated him. LOVE Glenn and Rick though, T-dog as well.

Hey, who's the girl with the baseball bat.... Is that Andrea's sister? She died in like the third episode! How'd she earn a place in an official promotional picture?

...That said, I agree with the basic sentiment of the picture. Though I rooted for Daryl more than Merle. It really was hilarious that the designated bad-guy is the character best suited for survival...

Daryl is a very engaging character, actually. The conflict between his beliefs and his feelings is really fascinating to watch. Rick and Shane are also great characters for very different reasons--and this from someone who hates Shane (I just got done watching Season 2, Episode 7). You can be engaged by truly horrible characters, and I think Shane simply uses the situation, the whole "zombie apocalypse," to excuse the kind of hard, uncaring, angry, pragmatic person he is. Rick is kind of the opposite. He seems like he's overcompensating, saying that since the world is so horrible and so far gone, he has to go out of his way to retain his humanity, even if it's not necessarily something he would have done before the "zombie apocalypse"

I also enjoy Dale, even if he's kind of a do-nothing character. I like how uncertain and yet certain he is, confident in his beliefs but still kind of shaky in the execution of them. Also, he quotes philosophers and I like cool old characters. Glenn is neat for similar reasons, for simply being a real person trying to survive in a horrible world. T-Dog's kind of a throw-away characters that doesn't get much screen time.

I agree that I don't really care for the suicidal girl (Amy's sister...not sure why I remember the sister's name but not hers) or Rick's wife or his son (I usually don't like child characters, they seem very contrived most of the time and child actors are usually very stiff and unbelievable), but for the most part I admit that they are well played out characters, I just don't like them.

It behooves me to say, however, that you probably listed about half the main characters in the list of characters you like, though. And that's kind of all that any show can expect. I think when a show can throw a bunch of generally unlikable people at you (which in itself is an amazing thematic decision since the show really isn't about zombies, it's about how far people can descend when faced with truly savage situations) and still engage you like this show does--and even come out with a few characters that you appreciate despite their flaws--then it's succeeded where it counts.
