Paranormal Activity Review

After moving into a suburban home, a couple becomes increasingly disturbed by a nightly demonic

presence. This is Rumor Control, here are the facts. One year ago this movie came out. It got great

reviews, made a boat load of money and became a sort of phenomenon. I remember wanting to see

this film so badly but didn't get a chance. But last month I found It on DVD at my library and took it

out. Good God that was probably the biggest mistake I've made all year. To sum this movie up look

up the word pathetic and you'll find the poster right next to it. Now what makes a bad horror movie?

Bad story, bad dialogue, characters we don't care about, bad acting, no scares and dullness. This

movie has all of those in spades! Now a movie not being scary can easily be forgiven (the Friday the

13th films aren't and I love those movies) but so long as the film is entertaining. This isn't. To begin

with lets start off with these so called "scares." Ghosts scare the shit out of me. So a movie about

ghosts (or to be more accurate Demonic Possession) should be scary. Wrongo. The scares in this

movie rely on a door opening and closing and a guy stomping around downstairs. Ohhh terrifying!

Then we have demonic foot prints and the girlfriend standing around doing nothing all night long.

Lord, a cup of water is scarier then this. This movie also proves that the majority of American movie

goers are made up primarily of chicken shits. I remember in all the commercials people in the

theaters were screaming at the top of their lungs. Either they were paid to do that or they were in a

better horror film. I think maybe the producers of Paranormal Activity probably snuck into a showing

of The Haunting in Connecticut to get real reactions. The acting is mediocre at best. Again no names

so its forgivable. What isn't is the horrible characters. Micah is a moron and Katie is annoying. After

the professional tells them "Don't use a quija board and call an demonologist, Micah ignores both.

He uses the quija board which pisses off the demon and says "No we won't call the demonologist,

we don't need him. That makes too much sense and the movie would be over quicker." So basically I

don't care for these two twits, and just like my previous review that takes me out of the movie big

time. You know I could make the same movie with a smaller budget that would actually be scary.

Good at the very least. So in the end Paranormal Activity is boring, stupid, and pathetic excuse for a

horror film. Why it made so much money I'll never know.
